The HemoCue Glucose Systems are based on a glucose dehydrogenase method and consists of a small, dedicated analyzer and a unique disposable microcuvette.

The systems combine the precision and accuracy of a central laboratory with the speed and convenience of obtaining results at the point-of-care. With just a fraction of a drop of blood and three simple steps, the HemoCue Glucose Systems will produce immediate, accurate results for screening, diagnosing or monitoring diabetes, as well as monitoring neonatal blood glucose levels.

  • Higher reimbursement than home use glucose meters
  • Immediate, accurate results covering the whole measurement range
  • Glucose 201 Analyzer: 0-444 mg/dL (0-24.6 mmol/L)
  • Only 5 µL of capillary, venous, or arterial blood is needed
  • Technique-independent results
  • No inherent limitations related to hematocrit or known drug interferences
  • No calibration or microcuvette batch-to-batch variations

The HemoCue Glucose 201 System combines the precision and accuracy of a laboratory measurement with a quick turn around time and ease-of-use.

The HemoCue Glucose 201 Analyzer is a handheld instrument and reports plasma equivalent values. The HemoCue Glucose 201 Analyzer is available with data management capabilities.

The 201 DM Systems bring modern data management capabilities to the HemoCue product line. By means of a wide range of settings and definable options, the systems can be made to prompt the operator for identification, lot numbers, quality control and other required information during analysis. This data can then be transmitted to clinical information systems.

The microcuvette is made of plastic and contains a cavity that holds about 5 µL of sample. The cuvette cavity contains reagents deposited on its inner walls and the blood sample is drawn into the cavity by capillary action and spontaneously mixed with the reagents. The cuvette is then placed into the analyzer in which the transmittance is measured and the absorbance and glucose level is calculated. Glucose 201 Microcuvettes cannot be used in B-Glucose Systems and vice versa.

Individually packaged microcuvettes for the HemoCue Glucose 201 Analyzer are available. The individual packaging provides extra protection, increased stability and a longer shelf life for the microcuvettes.
